Description: Sooner (Susan Deer) is a young girl being raised by an eccentric and slovenly bootlegger (Cloris Leachman) in the backwoods of Indiana. It's only after she's taken away by the authorities and given to the childless couple of Mac (Richard Crenna) and Elizabeth McHenry (Lee Remick) that she comes to realize how ignorant she has been of the wider world. The going is difficult, but with patience and understanding, her new parents help her to acclimate to a more civilized life.
