Barging Round Britain With John Sergeant

Description: John Sergeant explores Britain's canal network in a series that uncovers the history of this national treasure. In the past the canals were the transport method of choice, where bulky goods were sent around the country reaching towns that had restricted and arduous paths. Today the waterways are home to a discreet community of people who enjoy living amongst the stunning scenery. Sergeant travels along eight of Britain's canals to find out more about the stories surrounding them. The episodes feature Llangollen Canal, with its incredible engineering, and the Caledonian Canal, which stretches from coast to coast in the north of Scotland.
