Interrupt This Program

Description: As tensions continue to rise around the world, the revolution for change won't be televised; it will be written, danced, sculpted and painted so that its reverberations can be felt worldwide. "Interrupt This Program" delves into the underground art scenes around the world that are begging to be catalysts for political change. Creator Nabil Mehchi says, "We discovered mural artists, dancers, and poetry done in different ways. In past seasons we traveled in Eastern European countries, like Ukraine and Russia, where there was a lot of performance art in the street and people using their bodies to protest or put the word out because they didn't have a lot of resources." Each episode features four young and determined artists as well as a Canadian immersed in local cultures to demonstrate how subversive, innovative and thoughtful art can be.
