Description: This Biblical story of Jesus Christ is told through the eyes of the Virgin Mary (Pernilla August). Raised in Nazareth, Mary is betrothed to Joseph (David Threlfall) when the angel Gabriel appears to her, announcing that she is chosen to give birth to the messianic son of God, who will be conceived by the Holy Spirit. During a journey to Bethlehem for a Roman census, Mary gives birth to Jesus (Christian Bale), and later is witness to her son's miracles, as well as his persecution and crucifixion.
