Sahara

Sahara

Description: Michael Palin is best known for two things. One is being part of the `Monty Python' comedy troupe and the other is presenting travel documentaries. This four-part programme falls firmly into the latter category. From a distance, the Sahara may seem like it's nothing more than miles of emptiness and endless sand dunes but that's not the case. Palin focuses his cameras on the diverse range of cultures and landscapes in the region. Palin's journey across the desert takes him to nine countries in which he participates in activities that include getting aboard the longest train in the world and joining an octopus fishing crew on a small boat off the coast of Tunisia.
