Who Should Get to Stay in the UK?

Description: Every year thousands of people from outside the EU apply for legal residence in the UK. In 2018, this figure amounted to almost 700,000. However, to be successful, they must navigate a complex and controversial immigration system. With the UK's immigration under scrutiny, this series follows several applicants and their lawyers as they make their case to be able to stay. The immigrants have a diverse range of reasons for wanting to make Britain their home, from Russian student Valeryia, who seeks an entrepreneur visa, to Dillian, who is seeking an asylum, claiming that he would be persecuted as a gay man in his home country of Trinidad and Tobago.
