Description: Twenty kids between the ages of 8 and 12 begin this competition, but only one comes away with the grand prize: a $100,000 college fund and the title of Child Genius 2014. In cooperation with American Mensa, the competition tests gifted children in subjects that include math, spelling, U.S. presidents, current events and astronomy. That last category might be of particular interest to the show's host, former NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, who quizzes the youngsters during the eight-episode season. Each week features eliminations, with five kids getting cut at the end of the premiere episode, until a winner is determined. The series is based on a British show of the same name.
