Description: World War I, also known as the Great War, was fought from 1914-1918 and all of the veterans who fought in the battle have passed away. But their voices and memories live on in an interview project that was nearly two decades in the making. This documentary programme culls on the extensive archive to tell the story of the war through eyewitness accounts provided by soldiers, airmen, nurses, munitions workers, children and others who lived through the war. The interviewees relive the heroism and heartbreak experienced during the period while providing a vivid and honest view of the war for viewers. Actor Dougray Scott narrates the five-part programme.
